Harbor Shores:

A Nicklaus Signature Filled with Challenge and Variety.

A grand, bold vision to reclaim of a vast area of old derelict buildings along the Paw Paw River brought Jack Nicklaus to the property to create a wonderful golfing adventure. Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan, located on the Southwest shoreline of Lake Huron, was a community building project involving the creation of a spectacular golf course around new housing and recreational projects. The layout features a variety of landscapes, from gentle parkland to severe dunes and along rolling river valleys. Local artisans have created stunning sculptures as a tribute to each of the Golden Bear’s major championships at each tee deck, giving a nostalgic look back at golfing history. Having hosted the Senior PGA in 2012, this Nicklaus signature design will again play host to the elite in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Feature Holes Descriptions:

Love it or hate it, Hole Seven is surely one to be included in any shotmakers discussion. The dogleg right tee shot tempts you with a short-cut carry over a large pond, but it is the green site that is the talking point. Perched high on a flattened piece of lakeside dune and surrounded by trouble, the approach has to be perfect or a big number will likely result. The back side begins with a lengthy Par 5 playing to one of the most sloped greens you will find anywhere. The multi-tiered green has a 5 foot ridge separating the upper from lower. Hole 14 is a beautiful Par 4 that requires length and placement to be far enough out and left to avoid the lurking jungle on the right and still have a shot at the green hidden behind more jungle in front. The Par 5 15th forces you to carry the river twice on your way to the large green with a large collection area behind to test your short game on any approach hit a bit to well.
