Oliver's Nest Golf Club:
A Kawartha Lakes Beauty.
Ontario's Kawartha Lakes region is best known for cottage get-a-ways and great fishing. Located just east of Lindsay in Oakwood, Oliver's Nest Golf Club is a Graham Cooke design that is a perfect place for another type of outdoor sportsman. Opened in 1994, the facility is considered one of the area's finest tests of golf. Routed along the Mariposa Brook and bordered by seemingly endless farm fields, there is a peaceful solitude when navigating the mounds, water courses and avoiding the deep grass and trees. A fine blend of precision and brute force is demanded off the tee on the layout. With greens larger than average size, accurate club selection is important to avoid lengthy rolls with the flat stick. Now part of the expanding Golf North fold, Oliver's Nest is a must for anyone heading along Highway 7 to the Kawarthas.

Feature Holes Descriptions:
The Fifth is an all world par 3, playing into the prevailing wind and slightly uphill. The Number 2 handicap hole needs a long iron, hybrid or fairway wood to carry the creek, with a devilish pot bunker protecting the front. This large green is heavily sloped and surrounded by mounds making par that much more challenging for any shot a little off-target. Number seven is a beautiful short par 4 framed by apple trees down the right side of the dogleg. You must put your tee shot in play to have any chance at the well protected, raised green guarded by major slopes and fronting bunker. Hole nine is a formidable uphill par 4. A well placed drive will leave you with a tough decision in how to attack the raised, very large green complex. The opener to the back side is an exacting par 4 that requires a most precise tee shot. A forced carry must thread the needle between the Mariposa Brook and deep grass to the left and large pond right. Finding the fairway is no easy feat and hitting the well protected green complex guraded by bunker and brook is just as tough.
