Wind Watch Golf and Country Club:

A Hidden, Long Island Treat.

Almost central along the Long Island Expressway is the town of Hauppauge New York. Located near Islip Airport and adjacent to the Hyatt Regency, Wind Watch Golf and Country Club is the perfect golfing location for travellers to the island. Opened in 1971, and having gone through a few redesigns, the layout features a nice blend of elevation, water and tree lined holes. This tight layout is best described as a first shot golf course. Tight off the tee, you must put  the ball in play to have any chance to score well. With great views and a solid challenge, Wind Watch is a terrific test.

Feature Holes Descriptions:

The opening hole is perched atop one of the highest points on the island and presents a sliver of fairway to take aim at. With a huge hillside right and mounds and OB left the first stroke is one of the toughest on the layout. The second is a terrific Par 5 that has OB right and a clump of nasty trees guarding the inside of the dogleg left, forcing you to shape something to the landing area between a series of bunkers. Hole 10, a Par 5, begins high atop the hill again and drops dramatically to a tight fairway lined with trees and OB, dotted with menacing bunkers. Correct club selection is vital more for placement than distance. The 16th is a great risk-reward Par 4 with a landing area pinched by ponds both left and right. The hole is perched behind a rock wall to punish anything short for those big hitters trying to drive the green.
