Palmetto Hall Plantation:
Bob Cupp’s Contribution to Challenging Hilton Head Golf.
Hilton Head is a golfer’s paradise. This spectacular Lowcountry sea island is home to dozens of golf courses. The Heritage Group’s portfolio of four island facilities with ten different courses, gives plenty of choice and variety for golfers. Palmetto Hall Plantation features 2 routings one by Arthur Hills and the other by Bob Cupp, of Beacon Hall and Mad River fame to Canadians. The Cupp course is a handful from the back tees. Playing over 7000 yards at sea level, navigating lakes and featuring unique geometric mounding and traps, this layout is one of the strongest tests in the Heritage collection.

Featured Holes Description:
Many architects opt for a handshake greeting in the first few holes of their courses. Cupp greets you with a stern, lengthy par 4 as your opener and then says “hang on” as you hit the second and third. The par 5 second is a dog-leg right that has a creek and pond dividing the fairway. Tight and tree-lined, you must think strategically and then execute with little room for error. The third, playing as the #1 handicap hole, also dog-legs right but requires a massive forced carry over wetlands and waste to the bulging landing area. Another carry over the waste leads to a severely sloped green guarded in front by water and back by sand. Par on these holes will feel like birdie or better.
