The Olde Mill Resort is a wonderful mountain top course located in Laurel Folk, Va minutes from the famed Blue Ridge Parkway east of the I77. Offering superb vistas the resort accommodations consist of course side cabins and apartment style condos overlooking the 18th green. With two tennis surfaces, an indoor pool on site, and hiking, biking, fishing and paddling offered by local outfitters the recreation options are not limited to golf.

 

Three generations of the Maples clan have left their mark on this mountain top layout. Ellis Maples, a disciple of Donald Ross, first designed Olde Mill back in the 70’s then son Dan and grandson Brad recently took the opportunity to renovate the course thus ensuring a family legacy at Olde Mill.

Featured Holes Description:

There are plenty of noteworthy holes at Olde Mill sampling of the beauty and the challenges that mountain golf can offer. However, two particularly challenging holes are must inclusions to our shot makers list. At 572 yards the 5th requires a combination of finesse, accuracy and brute strength. With trouble left and right off the tee, the fairway slopes steeply down from the 250 mark to a green site protected by water front and left with forest behind –challenge this hole at your peril. Number 8 offers a teeing ground for this demanding par 3 perched atop a hill forcing a tee shot over a valley to an exposed green site some 188 yards away. The prevailing winds are facing and the green falls off in all directions with a couple of large trees right and bunker front to capture the wayward shot. Only the purest of strikes will find the green. Standing on the green you are on the highest point of the golf course with wonderful vistas all around.
